Welcome to Thirlestane Castle

For a camping and caravan location it simply doesn't get much better than this. The park is set In the idyllic grounds of Thirlestane Castle - a magnificent 16th Century Castle. Thirlestane Castle is one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland and still remains home to the Maitland family today. During the summer months Thirlestane Castle and grounds are open to visitors and there are often events for you to enjoy. There is an adventure playground for the children and a warm and friendly Tea Room which serves a tasty selection of drinks, sandwiches and home baking.

Also open Bank Holiday Monday 29 May and Monday 28 August 

Guests at the Caravan Park get a 20% a discount on entry fee  . 

2017 EVENT CALENDAR

Tour De Lauder 2017 (Saturday 22 April 2017)
Thirlestane Castle is delighted to be hosting this next 'Tour De Lauder' event, a charity-inspired cycle in support of the British Heart, Chest and Stroke organisation. Starting at 7 am on  22 April 2017 the Castle welcomes spectators and are especially inviting the public in joining in the 'welcome home' with riders returning from around 1pm. www.tourdelauder.co.uk

Borders Vintage Motoring Extravaganza (Sunday 4 June 2017)
Join us for the 45th Annual BVA Historic Motoring Extravaganza on Sunday 4 June 2017 at Thirlestane Castle (www.bvac.org.uk) with over 1,000 vehicles on display. A great family day out with a Craft and Gift Fair and displays during the day. Further details to follow.   

Pride and Prejudice (Sunday 18 June 2017)
Take a step back in time with Chapterhouse Theatre Company to meet Elizabeth Bennet, Jane Austen's most loveable heroine. When Elizabeth meets the rude and abrupt Mr Darcy, she loathes him at first sight. But is there more to him than meets the eye? Brought to life by award winning writer Laura Tuner, this brand-new adaptation celebrates the 200th Anniversary of Jane Austen’s death and promises to be the most splendid evening of the summer. So, join friends and family as you picnic under a beautiful summer sky and lose yourself in this unforgettable love story. After all, it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.

Wind in the Willows (Wednesday 12 July 2017)
Join Badger, Ratty, Mole and Toad for a perfect summer of adventure. What starts as a search for the best picnic spot rapidly turns into the most hilarious of escapades. With the bumptious Toad’s heart set on a shiny new motorcar and his very liberty soon at stake, will his faithful friends come to his rescue – and will he let them? Alive with music and song, this magical family show is presented in beautiful traditional costume and features a woodland parade during the interval for everyone to join in with! Fun and frolics aplenty with this adaptation of the classic novel loved by children and adults alike, performed in the grounds of one of Scotland's most beautiful open-air venues.
